The treatment is the short part. What happens in the days afterward is where a good result gets protected or quietly undone, and most of that is in your hands once you leave the office.

One thing first: your provider gives you instructions specific to the treatment you had and the skin you have. Those instructions win over anything you read here or anywhere else. This article is background, not a substitute for what Stephanie tells you at your appointment.

Hours 0 to 24: expect redness

After PRF microneedling, mild redness is the normal course. It typically looks like light sun exposure and it is a sign the skin is responding, not a sign something went wrong. You may also feel warmth or a mild tightness.

What to do with that first day:

  • Leave your face alone. No scrubbing, no picking, no poking at it to check whether it still feels different.
  • Keep products simple. This is not the day to layer on active ingredients.
  • Skip the gym, the sauna and anything that makes you sweat heavily, unless your provider tells you otherwise.
  • Stay out of direct sun. In Tucson that takes actual planning rather than good intentions.

Hours 24 to 48: the fade

Most clients find redness settles within 24 to 48 hours. Some see it resolve faster. If yours is lingering past that window or you are seeing something you did not expect, call the office rather than searching the internet at midnight. That is what the phone number is for.

This is also the window where people start looking for results, which is a little early. PRF works by releasing growth factors slowly, and your skin is at the beginning of a process measured in weeks.

Days 3 through 14: the part nobody watches

Nothing dramatic happens visually during this stretch, which is precisely why it gets neglected. Collagen building is quiet work. What you do now still matters.

Sunscreen daily, without debate. Freshly treated skin and strong desert sun are a bad pairing, and sun exposure is the easiest way to spend money on a treatment and then work against it. Moisturize regularly, because our climate pulls water out of skin around the clock and recovering skin holds it less well than usual.

Hold off reintroducing strong actives until your provider says to. If you are not sure whether a product in your cabinet qualifies, bring it to your next appointment or describe it over the phone.

Weeks 2 through 6: where the result shows up

This is when clients start noticing the change they came for. Smoother texture. Better light on the skin. In Carla Noriega's words after her PRF microneedling: "My face feels much smoother and I noticed a huge improvement on my under-eye wrinkles and forehead."

It is also roughly when your next session lands, since our protocol spaces appointments a few weeks apart, with most clients doing 3 to 4 sessions. The gap is deliberate. Treating again too soon interrupts the process rather than accelerating it.

Aftercare by treatment type

Not every PRF treatment has the same recovery.

PRF microneedling

Topical numbing beforehand, mild redness for 24 to 48 hours after. The most involved recovery of the group. See PRF microneedling for the full protocol.

PRF injections

A 45 to 60 minute appointment, typically 2 to 3 sessions, with results showing in the 2 to 4 week range. Recovery notes depend on the area treated and your provider will walk you through them. Details at PRF injections.

PRF facial

Also 45 to 60 minutes, with a glow most clients describe within days. Generally the gentlest option of the three.

A Tucson specific warning about sun

Sunscreen after a skin treatment is standard advice everywhere. Here it carries more weight. Our sun is strong most of the year, cloud cover is not much help, and a walk from the parking lot to the grocery store at 2:00 PM in June is real exposure. Treat a hat and shade as part of your aftercare, not as an extra.

When to call

Call us if something does not match what your provider described, if redness runs well past the expected window, or if you are simply unsure about a product. We would much rather answer a two minute question than have you guess.

Our office is at 7493 N Oracle Rd #105, just south of Ina Road, open Tuesday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Friday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. We are closed Saturday through Monday, so if you are treated on a Friday and want same-week access to us by phone, keep that in mind when you book.
